The King is Dead But Rumours Still Abound!

Maybe there’s some truth in the words of Kirsty McColl’s 1981 single, which states, There’s a Guy Works Down the Chip Shop Swears He’s Elvis, because now rumours are emerging that The King, Elvis Presley, did in fact make a visit to England in 1958 when he teamed up with Half a Sixpence star, Tommy Steele on a whistle stop tour of London‘s most famous sights.

However, a spokesman for Elvis Presley Enterprises in Memphis, Tennessee, denied the secret trip ever took place, and insisted that the only time Elvis was on British soil was when he was returning to the U.S. to wrap up an army tour.

But theatre impresario Bill Kenwright insists Elvis flew to London for a day’s sightseeing.

Tommy, now 71, said in a written note to London’s Daily Mail that he wished the secret had never come out. “I can only hope he can forgive me,” he said of Presley, who died in 1977 at the age of 42. “It was an event shared by two young men sharing the same love of their music and the same thrill of achieving something unimaginable.”

Amy Winehouse Talks With Penguin!

Amy Winehouse has reportedly been offered a $2 million book deal by Penguin books in which she will talk about her weird and not so wonderful life style, if she can manage to recall most of it through her drug sapped brain.

But can there really be anything we don’t already know about the 5 time Grammy Award winner, as on a daily basis she reveals new material to the tabloids.

Winehouse will also talk about her marriage to Blake Civil Fielder, which should be a fairly short chapter as he has been in jail for most of their marriage.

Heather Mills, The Working Girl!

Well, she certainly had the mouth for the job! Both ‘big’ and ‘foul’.

The UK television channel, Channel 4, is running a documentary tonight in which an ‘old friend’ of Heather Mills’s claims both she and Paul McCartney’s gold digging ex wife worked together in the 1980’s as high class prostitutes. Maybe the ‘high class’ may be a bit of a stretch, but prostitute we’ll go with!!!

During her 20’s Mills was struggling to make a living and along with Denise Hewitt, now 44, entertained men for £10,000 a night offering sex and acting out lesbian fantasies for their clients.

Mills’s friend (that’s the sort of friends this nasty bit of work seems to attract), Denise has said in the interview, ‘We used to get a lot of jewelry as gifts, rings, watches, Bulgari bracelets, cars. The world was our oyster. We enjoyed it,’ Denise says on the programme.

‘We would have full-on sex with a guy. We went into high-class prostitution behind closed doors. Girls in Newcastle go out and do it for free. But we’d get £10,000 for our girlie-girlie scenes.‘

Going on to further add credence to her story Hewitt names specific men. “Adnan Kashoggi, Kerry Packer and one of the Royal princes of Saudi, they were the big fish and there were a couple of others that were classed as Heather’s sugar daddies.’

A Channel 4 spokeswoman defended the strong allegations made in the documentary saying, ‘Our show tries to separate fact from fiction and find out the truth behind the headlines.’

The normally loud mouthed, vocal and media hungry Mills was unavailable for comment! Probably got her mouth full of something!

If it wasn’t a good week for Amy Winehouse, being told to quit drugs and alcohol by her record label or be dropped, then its been an even worse week for her incarcerated husband, Blake Civil Fielder.

It was Blake’s birthday this week and Amy was just having too much fun to bother herself to make a trip to the jail and take him a cake with a file hidden in it!

Reports say that Winehouse, 24, who just a few months ago was sobbing on stage for her jailed husband, who is charged with assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, didn’t even send the guy a birthday card.

The continued absence of his wife is seen to be the reason for Blake’s conversion to Catholicism while in Pentonville prison. That in itself will be a stumbling block to their marriage as Amy is Jewish! Oups!

Paris Hilton is Morphing

Although Mr and Mrs Hilton, mummy and daddy of Paris Hilton state they just love Benji Madden to bits, surely they cant be too keen on the change Paris is making in her dress code.

Since dating the Good Charlotte band member, Madden, Paris seems to have given up the girlie pink shades and the skimpy little dresses that just about cover her stick thin figure and instead is kitting herself out with black leather, chunky silver crucifix, bling style rings, bright red lipstick and a look that is more akin to that of burlesque styled Dita Von Teese, than the clothes horse socialite we have come to know.

Just this week Paris was spotted strutting, rather than tottering, in black leather motorcycle style boots and carrying an oversized black leather handbag.

Its becoming difficult to tell her apart from Benji, will we see her colouring her hair jet black or piling it high in the Amy Winehouse beehive style in the next few weeks and sporting visible ‘Guns and Roses’ style tattoos.

Norah Jones and Her Blueberry Pie

Well it’s certainly been a while since we’ve heard from this little lady. Nine-time Grammy Winner Norah Jones recently sat down with the Chicago Sun-Times to discuss the blush worthy perks of her first acting experience in My Blueberry Nights.

The movie, which is a character-driven drama, focuses on a young woman’s turbulent breakup and her attachment to an all-night diner where she spends hours quietly chatting with the chivalrous owner played by Jude Law.

After finally getting her fill of the culinary artists’ famous blueberry pie, she sets off on a trek around the United States in an effort to find herself.

Although Jones has made more than a name for herself and is celebrated on many continents, she has essentially stayed humble…very humble.

“I had to kiss Jude about 90 times and I didn’t want to laugh, but it seemed so ridiculous,” the 28-year-old giggled. “What in the world am I doing kissing Jude Law? He’s Jude…and I’m…me.”

Just because she has never participated in a film does not mean she’s unable to bring anything to the screen, as director Kar-Wai Wong actually used her lack-of-background to his advantage.

“He told me not to take acting lessons,” Jones divulged. “He just wanted me to be raw and natural. So in many ways the entire movie was one big acting lesson.”

Sarah Jessica Parker Brings Paris to Manhattan

As Carrie Bradshaw says in the voice over at the beginning of Sex and the City as she leaves the night club called Paris, ‘even in New York you can have Paris.’

Its been four years since we had a taste, and now its nearly time again! May 28^th is rapidly approaching and all of us Sex and the City fans have the date well and truly circled on our calendars and are busy gathering together all our Manolo Blahnik shoes, our Prada dresses and sipping the cosmopolitans while teetering around in 4 inch heels ready for that first night screening of the new big screen version of Sex and the City.

But, there’s one thing we don’t have….yet! It would appear that along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristen Davis there is a new star in the movie.

Although the plot has been kept a bigger secret than the D Day Landings there are still those little snippets of photographs from the set that have been released to whet our appetites. So as the anticipation builds we are studying the fashion ‘stills’ of the movie.

And what is that we see? A 6,300 Swarovski crystal-encrusted handbag in the shape of Paris’s Eiffel Tower.

Before Carrie Bradshaw, played by SJP, fell romantically into the arms of Mr Big, aka Chris Noth, in the final episode, she had trailed across the Atlantic to France’s capital city, Paris, in a bid to make a life for herself with Aleksandr Petrovsky a puffed up egotistical Russian artist, played by ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikova. While there, she bought herself a little keep sake of her mission, an Eiffel Tower handbag.

The handbag was created for Sarah’s character by Patricia Field who was the designer on for The Devil Wears Prada which starred Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep.

The little ‘must have’ accessory is carved from acacia wood by an obscure Californian designer called Timmy Woods who was also responsible for the ‘horse head’ handbag used by Miss Bradshaw in an episode of SATC.

Patricia Field has a store in the Bowery area of Greenwich Village, Manhattan, a shop, or more an emporium, that is packed with accessories and jaw dropping clothes. It is here that The Eiffel Tower bag becomes more affordable than at the original designer’s store in Beverly Hills. Being made of less expensive materials, and missing the signature crystals, but none the less a must have piece for the eccentric, kooky, fashion slave.

At $400 it is far more affordable than its West coast counterpart which will set you back almost the price of a mortgage deposit with a price tag of $2,750. And we thought Eliot Spitzer paid a lot for his Sex in the City!!!

A little word of encouragment for all you tree huggers out there, when Timmy Woods makes his handbags they are from ‘fallen acacia trees’ and for every tree he uses he replants 2 more in their place!
